1password is a tool that allows us to safely keep all our passwords in one location.

For the post team we always use [email protected] to log in. Then, there’s a separate security code and a password. The security code only needs to be entered once, when you login from a new computer. The password needs to be entered every time want to access 1pass.

How does 1password work?

1password works with what they call Vaults. These are different categories of services, websites to which we can categorize our login info. By default the All Items section is selected, allowing you to see all the different categories. If you need to search for a specific password, for example the credentials for the post gmail account, you can search for it by typing in gmail and then selecting the Gmail Vault.

On the right side you will see the username and password, as well as the website to which the credentials belong. You can install the 1password browser plugin so it automatically fills the login areas, allowing for easy access.

Adding a new password can be done by clicking on + New Item in the top right corner.

Google SSO

SSO stand for Single Sign On and basically means that you only need the google account in order to log in. There are quite a few websites that use SSO, for example frame.io and higgsfield.

Sharing

You can also share the passwords with people that don’t have access to 1password, freelancers for example that need to access a stock website. Select the item you wish to share, click on the share button, adjust the settings based on what you need/want and click Copy Link.

Freelancers

Freelancers (will) have their own 1password login that has only the most used accounts available to them. The login details for this will be shared when freelancers join Wenneker.
