If you are doing any comp work you are going to be working with the Daytona Method, please read this article carefully before starting your work:
In this folder you can store all the comps that are being exported, you can (and should) create subfolders to keep it organised. Your compname should be the same as the source clip but replace ‘PRERENDER’ with ‘COMP’ and add a version number. For example: A001C048_PRV_COMP_SO1_V001
Source files should always have ‘PRERENDER’ in the name, if they don’t you are likely working with a wrong source file, please contact a mediamanager to assist you.

In this folder you can store all the comps that are not being exported.
This is where you can store all files that you use in your comps. You are welcome to create any folders if you need more than the template provides, but please do not remove any.
If you need to import another AE file you can use this folder to do so.
We always make all supers and graphics in After Effects and render it to a single export with alpha that we can place above the edit. Every sequence should have its own unique export from After Effects - you are not allowed to cut and mix super layers to get the result you need. This way we can easily toggle one layer to create a clean version of our sequence and also for final delivery we need to supply the open files for each sequence. Mixing supers layers would basically make this impossible. Furthermore supers layers should contain only supers and graphics, no video can be baked into the supers layer.
When exporting your comp it is good practise to give the editor working on the project a heads up so that he can give you instructions if necessary. When working with the Daytona Method it is important that you export to the folder called ‘_VERSIONS’. From there you can copy your file to one folder above and strip the version number to overwrite the existing file. Before overwriting, check with the editor if it’s a good time to do so. If you have a comp which does not have an existing file, check with the editor or media manager because likely something is not according to workflow.
When nearing the end of a project we’d like to ask you to clean the project for future use. Make sure the after effect file is organised and made tidy. Give layers a logical name. Remove unused layers. Make sure the timeline is orderly and trim the layers. So that the next person can easily work with the file.
