For shoots we have SSD’s, usually around 2TB per disk. Production makes a reservation for these ssd’s based upon the amount of shooting/photography days (add link to google form). Media management gets an email- and slack notification that a new request has been sent in. Generally we give per shooting day 2 disk’s (an A and B version).
In notion we have an overview of all the disks in our possession. Please keep track of which disks are being used by which production and who has requested them, otherwise we might not have enough available.
Shoot info
As said earlier, when production is making a request for transport disks there are a few things to keep in mind:
- Number of shooting days: Generally we provide per day two drives of 2TB (including a usb-c cable). For Photography we can provide smaller size ssd’s.
- Audio: If audio is recorded, make sure that its either recorded directly onto the camera, the crew is using a timecode jammer and/or using a clapperboard. Otherwise this cause a delay in post.
- Resolution: Anything more than 4K should be flagged and only under very specific circumstances be shot that way. If we receive >4K footage we will downscale it to 4K.
- High-speed: Generally we shoot in 25fps. If there’s footage shot in ≠25fps it needs to either be converted into 25fps (e.g shot in 30fps), or left as is (23.976fps)
Allowed codecs:
- Prores 4444XQ with MXF of MOV
Codecs that we should avoid
Note: some cameras use unsupported codecs/containers. Always check with MediaInfo the footage if anything unusual happens or its not working as expected.
