Because more often than not we are starting with the edit shortly after- or even during the shooting period it is important that we follow a couple of guidelines.
On set we work with SSD drives to ensure a fast and safe storage. We always work with the SSD’s in pairs so that there are two copies of all the material on two separate drives (Master & Back-up).
At the end of the shooting day these two (or more) drives can never go with the same person. Always make sure that either the Master drive or the Back-up drive goes to the office and the other drive stays with a producer until there has been made another back-up by a mediamanager. They will notify you once the extra back-up has been made, only then can you return the drive.
<aside> 💡 Basically make sure that the Master and Back-up are never with one person, in one car, overnight in one room etc. If something would happen, a drive gets stolen, a building burns down, anything - we need to make sure that we have the back-up.

We would like you to follow the following folder structure:

Which looks like this:
Please rename the folders according to your project.
Never supply any empty folders, for example if you only have one camera, remove the ‘CAM-B’ and ‘SOUND’ folder as it might be confusing for the person receiving the drive.
Always make sure that you copy all files from the camera card to the SSD.
Long story short, we do not work with proxies made on set. We do not need you to create them. All we need is the original camera files and we will handle the proxy creation.
Never supply a drive with just the proxies on it, we always need the camera originals on the drive that comes to office.
If you do want proxies created on set, please contact Martijn before the shoot.
Is the director making an edit? Is someone outside of the office making an edit? Please also talk to Tom before the shoot.
Usually after each shooting day someone will bring either the Master or the Back-up to the office. Never leave both copies at the office or with the same person!
