How to prep files for India
Step 1 - Selecting the shots
Start by selecting all the shots that need to go to India (e.g. Cleaning up tracking marker shots, shots that need tracking for replacements, creating mattes, logo replacements etc.) and place these on a new timeline (called for example: VFX-Prep_to-DVR_V001)
Right now it doesn’t matter if you have 2 or more of the same shot, this will be fixed when using DVR’s mediamanagement function. However, if you have shots that have time remapping or any other speed changes it is important to remove those features. The easiest way is select the shot, press F and in the program window it will show you the entire length of the clip with the actual timecode. Drag this clip onto your vfx timeline.
Step 2 - Checking the timeline
Check if you have selected all the shots that need to go to India. Important is that if you have shots that are basically the same, that you remove one of them. This in order to cut costs and also to keep everything a little bit more manageable.
Also make sure that you removed any effects (again, time-remapping and speed changes to the clips).
Once everything is checked export your timeline as an xml,
Step 3 - Importing the xml into Davinci
On the media page import your timeline. It is important to deselect the automatically import footage. This will force DVR to use the media that’s already in it’s project. Other settings don’t matter for this part.
Make sure your timeline is is stored in 02_EDITS > 02_SEQS > 01_TO-INDIA
Step 4 - Exporting the prerenders
With you VFX timeline selected go to File -> Mediamanagement
In the prompted window use the following settings:
