PREMIERE PRO WORKFLOW

Structure

Because our projects are usually quite big in terms of deliverables we utilise Premiere not just for offline edit, but also build back online’d timelines inside Premiere. This means that the latest version of a sequence will always live inside of Premiere and we have one place that acts as a central hub for our projects.

Inside Premiere we have three main folders - the most important thing is to keep organised and make sure that at all times someone who opens up your project can easily see what is the latest version of a sequence is. You are allowed to add extra folders if needed.

Please do not remove any folders, you might not need them in the current state of the project but chances are, somebody else needs them in a later stage of the project.

A note about the ‘Final delivery’ folder - this folder is meant only for importing and checking the final delivery renders. All editing must be done in the ‘Sequences’ section of the project.

Offline

During offline editing, it is important that we organise our project well, we collect all assets in the correct locations in the assets folder and name our sequences according to the project’s asset list that the post producer as made.

It’s important to work organised inside of Premiere, so if needed anyone can dive into the project and locate what they need. Make sure to keep a tidy project by only keep the latest sequences in the 01 EDITS folder and any previous versions can be moved to 00 OLD EDITS. See screenshots below.

Standard brand guidelines, music and fonts can be found on the server, please copy them over to the project folder or ask a media manager to assist you.

Once you have an edit and you are ready to export for review, please export to the Client WIPS mount and upload to Frame.io - read more on that later in this article.

Check with lead artist for how we should keep a tidy project

Scale settings

Within Wenneker we never work with the Scale to Frame Size option enabled. This might be convenient for the editor, but with building the grading in davinci this causes a lot of headaches. Always make sure this setting is disabled.
