At Wenneker all our sets, both Mac and Windows, are a closed off system maintained by Futurestore. This means that you can’t install software without admin rights. However, for the Apple computers we have a little piece of software called Self-Service. New updates will be published through this channel.

It is important that all of us run the same version of certain softwares, for example After Effects. We don’t just update because there’s a new version out. If, however, the demand grows that we should update to a new version, Daniel and Bart will have final say in this. When we want to upgrade, we can contact Daan from Futurestore and specify in the email, to which version of the software we want to update.

Self Service (mac only)

In the event that you quickly need to install a plugin or something, the self-service app has the Admin On-demand function. By clicking this button, you gain admin rights for 5 mins.

Adobe

Every Adobe software throughout the company should run on the same version, in order to minimise incompatibility.

Updating Adobe for Mac is done through the self-service app. Go to Your Apps, then click the dropdown menu and select Creative Cloud 20XX. Then install the software. It is important that we quit any adobe program before we start the installation. This will decrease the chance of the installation failing.

Updating Adobe for windows is done manually. Please contact Bart about this.

Plugins

Be mindful of installing & using plugins as we all need to be able work on the project. So make sure someone else knows about if there is a plugin used that we don’t normally have. If you’re using a new plugin make sure that it’s in the software folder or that you clean the project so it doesn’t need the plugin to edit it.
