When moving from offline to online all films we work on need to go through AE for super animation & motion design. Even if the film has no titles, the wordmark and endcard still live inside AE and are exported as a super layer for the editor to import in their timeline.
To set up a supers project, copy the template project from
Project Folder > 02_PROJECT_FILES > 02_AE > 00_TEMPLATES > Projectnr_ProjectName_super-template.aep
Save it in the correct location
Project Folder > 02_PROJECT_FILES > 02_AE > 02_SUPERS
And rename it with the correct information, project number, project name followed by supers + _V01.
For example: 25389_PH_GB_Wuwei_SUPERS_V01
When starting supers on a project an editor will have prepped a reference film, a latest export with all graphics burnt in and a clean export for you to place into your project. The files prepped will contain naming structure, approved timing, copy & duration. None of these things should be adjusted in after effects unless specifically instructed to.
Ref and clean files can be found at finder level here:
Project Folder > 03_ASSETS > 06_REF_EDITS > *date folder*
Once imported into AE they live inside 03_ASSETS > 00_REFS

On occasion the client will change copy after locking the offlines and the updated copy will either be provided as feedback in frame or by the post producer, it’s worth double checking with the post producer or editor if anything has changed since they prepped the ref and clean films. Any changes to copy should only mean swapping words and not timings, if the client requests extending or removing shots then it’s up to the editor to amend and share new ref and clean files with you.
