What is the VFX Tracking List?

The tracker list is meant to keep track of all VFX comp shots within a project. Editors will select those shots during offline based on the feedback or already thought out online work form pre-production. During the prep of the shots the mediamanager is going to be added the shots too the list. If he is done he gives a heads up too the editor and post-producer/producer so they can fill in the context what needs to be done.

How and who these shots needs to be prepped technically can be read on this page. → add page @Martijn van Kuilenburg

When are these shots going to be filled in?

  1. After the edit lock.
  2. Its being planned to lock VFX shots in an earlier stage.
  3. Due a longer offline edit process the offline edit will take up longer then expected we discuss with client that certain shots need to be locked due to a deadline or complicated VFX work.

Internal and External list?

The VFX Tracker List can consist out of one internal and/or one external list. Internal consists all the comp shots we do with our in-house team or freelancers who work on the office or remote. If there’s a lot of basic non-creative composting work we send those shots to an external vendor.
